As the San Francisco 49ers gear up for a highly anticipated primetime showdown against the Seattle Seahawks this Saturday night at Levi's® Stadium, fans are buzzing with excitement for this Week 18 clash that carries substantial postseason stakes. Following Thursday's practice, the team has released its final injury report, shedding light on key player statuses that could influence the game.
Among the notable names, tight end George Kittle and wide receiver Ricky Pearsall have both been participating in practices but in a limited capacity throughout the week. Head coach Kyle Shanahan underscored the critical need for his star athletes to be on the field, highlighting the significance of Kittle's abilities in facing off against a formidable defense. "The more good players you have out there, everyone knows Kittle's a great player," Shanahan remarked. "We're going against a great defense, a great team. So, it's definitely huge to have everyone on board who is capable of it."
In another development, cornerback Upton Stout was able to fully engage in Thursday’s practice; however, he is still awaiting clearance from the league's concussion protocol before he can officially participate in the game. Defensive lineman Keion White made a return to practice in a limited role after being sidelined for the initial two sessions of the week. On a more concerning note, star tackle Trent Williams did not take part in any practices this week. Nevertheless, Shanahan mentioned that Williams has been showing progress and has cautiously tested his hamstring.
"I think he's made good progress," Shanahan stated. "If the doctors give their approval and Trent feels confident that he can handle it, then there’s no decision on my part; we’ll definitely have him up on game day."
Running back Christian McCaffrey and fullback Kyle Juszczyk were both limited during Wednesday’s practice but returned to full participation on Thursday. Shanahan explained that the coaching staff opted for a conservative approach, considering the team's challenging schedule with three games in just 13 days.
"We monitored our whole team," he said. "This was something we needed to do for a number of those guys… being three games in 13 days."
Cornerback Renardo Green, who has been dealing with a neck injury, participated fully throughout the week and is not listed with any game designation, indicating he will be available for selection.
