A Tipsy Raccoon's Wild Night in a Virginia Liquor Store

Early Saturday morning, an employee at a liquor store in Ashland, Virginia, stumbled upon a surprising sight: a raccoon passed out on the bathroom floor.
This wasn't your average shoplifting story. The raccoon had broken into the store, causing quite a ruckus. It smashed bottles, collapsed a ceiling tile, and drank its way through the scotch and whisky. But why the midnight rampage? Well, it turns out raccoons, like humans, can get a bit tipsy on alcohol.
Samantha Martin, an officer at the local animal control, found the raccoon's antics hilarious. "I personally like raccoons," she said with a laugh. "They're funny little critters. He fell through a ceiling tile and went on a full-blown rampage, drinking everything."
Martin took the raccoon to the animal shelter, where it sobered up after a few hours of sleep. The shelter praised her handling of the situation, releasing the raccoon back into the wild with a stern warning about breaking and entering.
The Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter shared the story, commending Martin's efforts. "After a few hours of sleep and zero signs of injury (other than maybe a hangover and poor life choices), he was safely released back to the wild, hopefully having learned that breaking and entering is not the answer," they said.
